Culminating
in an evening performance on:

SYNOPSIS:
Dream On is a brilliantly
innovative treatment of Shakespeare’s favourite comedy, A Midsummer
Night’s Dream. The music of Malcolm Sircom features Blues, Flamenco, a
Conga, a fiery Latin American Tango and a Rock number appropriately called
"Rock Bottom".
These, together with beautiful lyrical songs, give the
flavour. In a modern setting the script, while using some of Shakespeare's more
accessible and beautiful passages, is fresh, invigorating, and funny.
It has
plenty of principal characters, and an essential chorus, which is active
throughout so every member of the cast from youngest to oldest, has a vital role
to play.

Enrol
early to secure your position…
Children
between 8 and 18 years can be part of the daily activities,
which run from
8.30 am to 3.30 pm.
Numbers for
the Holiday Activity are limited so please register early to avoid
disappointment.
-
There will be a minimal ticket charge for family and
friends for the performance.
-
Every child must be fully committed to all the rehearsals
and performance.
-
Parents will be asked to provide packed lunches and snacks
and may need to make some contribution to their child’s costume (this should
be minimal).
-
Commencement
of the Holiday Theatre Activity is subject to receiving sufficient enrolments.
The process rather than
the final product is the emphasis of this activity. Children will be able to enjoy a number of workshops and
develop their skills in acting, music and dance.
The theatre activity will help
to develop the City’s youth through an arts environment that is fun, creative
and caring.
This is an excellent
opportunity to be involved in an exciting week of training, rehearsing and
performing.
Discover your potential.
Our aim is to make the
Holiday Theatre Activity a place of training and discovery. During the two weeks
of the Holiday Activity our team will focus on all the elements involved in
producing a major theatrical performance. The Holiday Activity will culminate in
a presentation of Dream On in the Empire Theatre.
The Holiday Activity
allows busy secondary school students to commit themselves to a production
without the concern that it will interfere with their exams and other school
commitments.
